I am searching for information on the John and Mary Jane Shippy family of Elkhorn. They probably arrived from New York in the 1850s. They had two daughters: Caroline b: 1856 and Harriet E. b: 1858. During the 1860 census, Mary Jane and the daughters were residing in the household of Ahasel Cronk, who may have been Mary Jane's parents. John was not found during this census, so he may have passed by 1860. Caroline later married Thomas James Gough in Elkhorn, but resided in Belvidere, Illinois. In her obit, it says she moved to the Belvidere, Illinois area when she was 16. Any information on this family is appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
