Hi, my name is Barbara Steward and I recently became my family historian. I am trying to find out about as many relatives of mine who lived in mcdowell county. My great granparents names were Nick and Sallie Martin and my grandparents names were John and Viola Stewart. My grandfather died on his 30th birthday on October 12, 1934. My grandmother died in the 1950's and was buried in the oakgrove cemetery in bluewell, wv. My dad was born on peerless mountain on march 8, 1931. he has 8 siblings. My family's surname started out with Patterson and now we have family reunions called Patterson, Jordan and Martin every summer to celebrate our family.
