This story is about my sister Vicki Anspach-Sharp. My name is Kathy Sanchez and my daughter is Andrea Anspach-Brazell. To begin we are doing this to inform anyone who knows or remembers Vicki of her recent accident. She is currently in the hospital because she has suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen to the brain called anoxic brain injury. Back in February 2008 she became ill and was rushed to the hospital where she had an emergency operation, but she did not wake up because she suffered septic shock syndrome and spent some time in the intensive care unit in a coma and on life support. At that time she wasn't expected to survive and family members argued over unplugging Vicki or not. In May 2008 she began to get better and finally awakened and was named miracle women by the staff. She was eventually moved to another floor and on her way to a full recovery. Then one night she was found by her nurse not breathing and unresponsive and her husband Donald Sharp insisted she be resuscitated at once. The doctors performed an EEG and discovered she was without oxygen for at least 12-14 minutes and now had brain damage. Currently her husband Donald still refuses to let her go and the family all has decided to respect that for she is all he had in life. Vicki and me are only 11 months apart and we are unseperatable because we went through so many struggles in life but we always had each other and Vicki always made the best out of it. Her motto was "every thing's gonna be okay!" Vicki had the kindness heart towards others, she was very independent and had pride in what she did for everyone. She's been known to give her last $10 dollars to a homeless person just to see them smile. She always fixed every ones problems if she could no matter how bad they were, that was just her way. Vicki has changed alot of peoples lives, she was our life and we were hers. She also had two cats that she believed were her kids, they made her happy too. Vicki spent most of her time on the computer just to keep in touch with me and Andrea. Andrea was Vick's favorite niece, she was her angel. Andrea lived in Sacramento too and was always there for aunt, she would drop whatever she was doing and go straight over to Vicki anytime she needed her. Andrea has been my backbone through all of this heartache and unfortunate crisis of losing my sister. We love her so deeply more than words can explain and we want her to know spiritually that she'll never be forgotten. It's going to take forever to grasp at the fact that our Vicki is gone, even though she is still laying in a hospital bed in a vegetative state. I remember back in December 2007 Vicki emailed me and asked me to write her a poem with the title " A place with no sound" and I never asked her why but only wrote it for her and I never had the vision in my head this, Vicki having brain damage because that is exactly where she is now " A place with no sound". It's as if she knew in some way because she only asked me to write the poem two months prior. We just want all of Vickie's friends and old buddies to know what has happened to a very special friend, wife, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother. She'll never be forgotten but always remembered and loved. We do love you so dearly Vicki until the day we die, loving you eternally through our broken hearts. We are so very sorry this has happened to you and sorry that we can't fix you like you have always fixed all of us. We'll be waiting for that special day when we meet again. POEM: Life with"Vicki" meant so many things, LIfe with "Vicki" taught me to trust myself. "Vic" has seen me at my worst, but LOVED me anyway. Live with "Vicki" meant easing each other, and laughing at our own silly jokes that no one but me and "vic" would understand. Live with "Vicki" meant feeling safe enough to talk about anything, and having patience to work our disagreements. Live with "Vicki" meant counting on her who'd sympathize when I've had a bad day, worried about me when I'd be gone too long, and always loved me with open arms. Live with "Vicki" meant so many things... because to me LIFE WITH "VICKI" WAS "MY" LIFE! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
