OBERG | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
My greatgreatgrandfather was Gust (Gustav) Oberg. He immigrated from Sweden in 1867 (according to citizenship papers) and appears on the 1870 Sugar Grove, PA as Gust Ober along with his wife Carolina. He was born about 1823. Carolina was born Nov. 14, 1819. They had two daughters- one Christine born July 29, 1849 was married in 1869 and appeared with her husband John Lawson in 1870 on the Sugar Grove census. A younger daughter Hulda Josefina Oberg was living with Gust and Carolina. A Henry Oberg lived with them and I suspect he was Gust's father. I think Oberg may be a name they adopted when they came to the US because I can find no immigration records for them from the Smaland region where Gust states he came from. I did come across a Hans T. and Margareta who are buried in Hessel Valley Church in Chandlers Valley, PA. It is posible Hans may be Henry. Does anyone know this family? I am no relation to Peter Oberg who also immigrated to Warren Co. Gust and Carolina later moved to Wetmore in McKean Co. Any info on Obergs inWarren or McKean counties would be appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
