According to my ancestor Samson Roberts (born 1864) birth cert, his mother was Matilda Brazil. However, she uses the name Matilda Elliott Roberts on the census, and died under that name. She was born in Copthorne, Sussex c1843. Has anyone come across her? Her daughter Mary Ann married under the Elliott name, which is odd when her father was a Roberts.
