LUBBE | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
I am looking for information about Bill Lubbe, whose father Otto brought him, his mother Elin, and his brother and sister into Alaska in early 1914. They settled in the McCarthy - Kennecott area, where Otto went into freighting. Before moving to McCarthy, the Lubbe family were in eastern Washington's Yakima Valley where Otto ran a farm equipment business until it went bankrupt. Otto's name was changed to Lubbe at Ellis Island by an immigration official. We don't know his original name. Bill worked for the Alaska Road Commission (a federal agency)and after Alaska entered the Union, he worked for the Department of Highways. After retiring, he resided in Eagle, Alaska. He died in Fairbanks in the 1980's. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
