We are looking to make new family connections. We welcome any news about our relatives, particularly those genealogical “tid-bits” of information, which lead to hidden family treasures, such as described in Harry and Mary’s historical trek out to Saskatchewan with Western Land Grants; a spectacular period of time in Canadian history. Head: Joseph (Henry) Couch. b. June 11, 1834, England. d. September 21, 1909, likely buried Usborne Township, McTaggart Cemetery. Immigrated from England to Canada in 1850. Purchased farm lot 23, concession 13, 1860. Other Couch family members living in the surrounding area of Fullarton. Wife: Hannah Airth. b. April 12, 1839, Scotland. d. 1914, Hibbert Township. Immigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1860. Other Airth family living in the surrounding area. Children: (some names may be duplicated) Joseph (Harry, Henry) b. May 16, 1884, d. February 04, 1936, buried, Woodland Cemetery, Middlesex County, City of London, Ontario, Canada; no head-stone marker. Harry married Mary Eleanor Dodman of Kent County and later Hay District, South Huron County, Ontario and moved to Lucky Lake area, Saskatchewan in 1909 with Western Land Grants. They had three children, Cyril odin, Leona and Grace, before returning to live in Ontario in 1927 or so. Cyril Odin is confirmed attending S.S. #6 Hibbert Cromarty school in 1927. Amelia Lucy, known to have attended S.S. #6 Usborne school, Winchelsea, 1899 Samuel Edward Mary Emma Richard Thomas, b. November 02, 1877 Jennie, b. November 22, 1866. Jennie married a Reuban Tink on February 16, 1904, at Exeter. Reuban was 43 years of age and Jennie was 35. Her brother, Harry Couch, was a witness. Eliza Jane, b. 1867. Eliza Jane married a James Bell in Hibbert Township, who was born 1845 in Scotland, on January 26, 1887. The marriage took place at Mitchell, Ontario. James was 42 years of age and a widower at time of marriage to Eliza Jane who was 20 years of age. David Mary Lee James, b. November 02, 1877 Hanna Anna, b. May 11 Jimmie, b. November 22, 1866 John, b. 1860. John married a Mary Aikens of Hullett, Nova Scotia, Canada on April 23, 1879 and his occupation was Yeoman, petty officer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
