I need information on any and all Poore or Poor or de la Poher, or de la Poer or Power and Beresford lines as well as any that are similar and known to be linked to these names that have immigrated first to the United States and then to Canada or to Canada from the old country. I have listed known countries that the family has pedigree in but if you are not on my list and have links please email me with your line. I have a dead end and need to link up with the United States line and eventually European line. My family came from the United States to Canada, several family members remained in the US and it is primarily from these members that I need data. All of them stated that they were Irish. My data Father: Ronald Charles Poor (on birth Certificate he is known as Charles Ronald Poor) born Feb. 23, 1935 in Rabbit Lake Saskatchewan. Mother: Phyllis May Prodahl born May 3, 1934 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. [(her father was St. Micheal Walter Prodahl born in Jan 1898 in Minneapolis Minnesota To a John Prodaehl who immigrated from Heidelberg Germany, who also had a wife Anna Lach (?) from Prussia, the area they lived in at the time due to boundaries at that time was considered Prussia). Her mother was Margaret Smith born in Scotland in Fifeshire Oct. 1901 to a Erasmus Smith (Schmidt?) from Copenhagen Denmark -he had a sister Dagmar who married a circus clown from the Wagner Circus. They had children one who ended up being a high wire artist and the other a Danish actress, who met my Great Grandmother Sarah Fitzpatrick on the docks of Edinburgh when his Danish Navy ship docked there. Sarah Fitzpatrick was the daughter of John Fitzpatrick and Betty Clark (e?) who was Scottish. John was from Ireland proper who moved to Scotland.] Grandfather: Denman Charles Poor (could be registered as Charles Denman at birth as they hated Charles and though it was a family tradition to use this name they used their middle names in their Signatures throughout their lives). Denny died in Williams Lake British Columbia in the early 1960's. Grandmother: Mabel Berg ( daughter of Alfred Berg who immigrated from Sweden to Canada) Great Grandfather: Sylvester Poor born Devil's Lake, North Dakota died in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan in the 1980's. Great Grandmother: Pearl Poor (nee Peck), born Sleepy Eye, Minnisota Great Great Grandfather: Charles Poor (e) Great Great Grandmother: Minnie Pearl surname unknown. Charles owned a Store in Meeting Lake (near Rabbit Lake) Saskatchewan according to the family. When and what type I was not told. Sylvester had a brother Ralph who married an Esther Newman and I was told they had several children whose names all started with V. One lives in St. Paul's Minnesota and my Grandmother Mabel Poor (nee Berg) says she met him at a Poor family Reunion near St. Paul's my Great-Aunt Erna Poor (nee Llick) who married my Granpa Denman's brother John attended with her. Grandpa Sylvester also had a Brother Billy/William who came to Canada then returned to the United States. I am hampered by not having birth and death info dates for most of this but should anyone remember having heard of family in Canada and some of these names please email me and let me know what you have no matter how slight you may think the info is it may be a goldmine as my Great aunt Erna may be of some help. She remembers a bit about the family and met some of you in the United States. I have put in enough info to hopefully help ie the Fitzpatricks etc. that might be out there with loose ends, feel free to email if you are connected to anyone on this list. Thank you in advance Susan Poor | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
