COOPER : KING | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
I am trying to verify the parentage of William H. King, b. 1834 in Rockaway Twp, Morris Co, NJ. He married Margaret L. Cooper abt. 1857, and had three sons: David H. b. 1859; Robert W. b. 1861; and James A. b. Apr 1870 d. young. I think that he is the son of James A. King, but I'm having trouble proving that. It primarily hinges on two facts: James A. King's other children were attending The Dover School in 1853, along with Margaret L. Cooper and her siblings. By 1853, William H. King would have graduated from school. Secondly, James and William are both listed on a Sunday school roster for the Methodist Church in Dover. James is the correct age to be William's father. The drawback is that James A. King is almost certainly the son of Jesse King, who is recorded as having had four sons, including William F. King. William F. King appears to have been born in 1815, so he's only just barely old enough, and had another son, William F. Jr. b. 1842, so I don't think this is my William's father. It is entirely possible that one of those other two unnamed sons was William's father, although unlikely as they seem to have moved away. Any information on this family would be most appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
