Query Text:

I have found my birth parents over 10 years ago, but I have lost communication with my birth mother who I was told is living in Minnesota with my younger sister. I am still in contact with my father and that means so much to me. My two younger sisters are actually full blood sisters! My mother was only 15 when she had me in 1978. My father had just been laid off of the Rail Road and my mother wasn't working. They didn't want to live with the others parents, so my father was given a summons to appear in court for abandonment. The judge gave my father two options. One:They can come back in 30 days with a full time job, a house, all baby supplies(had to include everything a baby needs) and do all this with no outside help from anyone, not even family members could help them, or the second option was he could give me up right then and there. Back in 1979 it was hard to find full time jobs not to mention being laid off from a good job at the time, he didn't think that he would be able to get everything within the 30day limit so he made the choice to let me go that day! I am also in search of my adoption records so that I can finally know most of my background and I can hopefully find out all of the details of my adoption. When my adoptive parents came to pick me up, they met the Social Workers at a restaurant in a small town, they told my mom to bring clothes because they said I couldn't go with them and they even kept my baby blanket that I was given before I was taken from my birth parents! To me, that does not sound like a well run adoption agency, but that was back in 1979. I am glad that my birth father made the decision he did because I would not be the person I am today nor would I have two beautiful children. I would very much love to hear from my birth mother again and keep in touch this time.
