I am looking for information about David McNeal b. about 1821-28 in Ireland, emmigrated around 1841-1849. His son, George M. McNeal was my gr-grandfather (photo attached). Oral family history says that George was born aboard the ship before reaching Canada, and that his mother died and was buried at sea - however, some dates don't make sense. David remarried upon entering the USA, and was living in Michigan from 1860 census and on. David and his first wife were both born in Ireland. Some census records list George's birthplace as Ireland, some list it as Canada. David could not read or write upon reaching the USA, so it very possible that the spelling of "McNeal" was changed. I have a lot of information on his descendants that I am willing to share, but nothing solid to go on for his ancestors. If anyone has any information on this family, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, and God bless. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
