Query Text: |
I have a conundrum regarding my great great grandfather James LEE. He married aged 24 Amelia Fairbrother aged 23 on 2 October 1857 in Walton Le Soken, Essex. On his marriage certificate, his father is given as James Bloomfield (hers is Martin Fairbrother). In 1861, 71 and 81, James and Amelia are both given as born Walton or Walton Le Soken, Essex. I cannot find a suitable James Lee/Broomfield in 1851 census but have a possible in 1841 where I have a James 30 and James 9 Bloomfield in same entry. Has his mother remarried between 1841 and 1851 to a Lee with James (younger) taking his stepfather's surname Lee? Was James a Lee at birth and regarded James B as his father after his mother (re)married? Have I misread the marriage certificate (attached) and the father is James Bloo... Lee? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
