Hi.. looking for a west family that came over to NZ after the 1900s possibly on the ship call the remuera after her 1912 maiden voyage. grt grandfather john west married Eliza Ellen Christopher in Dorset, England (July 22 1893. had 3 or 4 children born in Dorset, folkstone Kent, his father William west was a soldier with the 12 lancers and lived at the Elham union work house..Kent ...he died their so did his wife Jane Ann west nee Taylor. 1st child. Charles Harriet m peter shrubsole, Rebbecca m john sharp, john my grt grd father m Eliza Ellen Christopher and there children. Charles, Maude, Harry, Faith, Frederick my grandad.... married Jessie Elizabeth Matthews in Auckland about 1940s but not sure as the dates on their marriage certificate have faded. her mothers name Elizabeth Mary Matthews nee Morgan from toowoomba Queensland Australia. but used the name of Alice Matthews, Jennings or Cartledge. was in the salvation army..don't know the dates? she was married to a Mr Mason but some where along the way she met Augustus Matthews and had my grandmother...Jessie Elizabeth ..who was b in Paddington Sydney Australia. my grand parents had 3 children. born in NZ Christopher still living, Winston still living, and my mother still living.
