CARLSON | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
I need help in locating the grave of my great grandfather, John A. Carlson. All I know about John A. Carlson is that he was born in Sweden about 1856-1857. I know nothing about his parents or his birthplace. The first and only possible census information for John A. Carlson is in the 1895 Minnesota Territorial and State Census. He and his wife Johanna Carlson both show up living in Sinnott Township, where Harry P. Carlson (my grandfather) was born in 1902. Harry’s birth certificate shows his father was John Alfred Carlson, born in Sweden. John was 46 years old in 1902, confirming his birth year as 1856-57. I could find no other definite birth or death information about John A. Carlson. However, our family history indicates that he died before the birth of his last son in 1905. Based on family history and census information, John A. Carlson evidently fathered at least eleven Carlson children with Johanna: Mary, Agnes, Ellen, Albert, Arthur, Elsie, Alfred, Herbert, Alma, Cecilia, Harry and John. The first two children were born in Sweden, but the remainder were all born in Stephen, Minnesota. I have reliable information John Carlson is buried in the Stephen Cemetery (my uncle has seen the headstone), but I would like to talk to someone in Stephen about this because I cannot even find a listing for the Stephen Cemetery.
