Query Text: |
Hillyard, Alexander from Kenagh or Edgeworthstown, Longford. Father of Francis, John and William who were living together in 1811 in Athlone, WestMeath. Francis was the eldest and married an Ann Holden (of Moat) on 6th May 1811. John married a woman named Margaret (possibly last name Bird) sometime between 1811 and 1828 presumably in the Westmeath/Lonfgord area. Their son Francis Bird Hillyard was christened on March 16, 1828 (born Feb 8) at St Mary's in Athlone, WestMeath. William was born approx 1803 in Athlone and he went into the military (there was a base near Athlone) and ended up in Stoke Damerel, Devon, England. William married in England in 1839 to an Elizabeth and had 4 daughters Elizabeth, Harriet, Elinor and Esther. There were at least 2 others Hillyard's, from Ireland who were in the same area of England,. Thomas born approx 1822 and William born approx 1834. There was a girl Mary the illegitimate daughter of Thomas Hillyard and Eliza Bealy christened March 15 1835 born March 12 who is potentially the daughter of this Thomas. Thomas married a Mary Ann Hockaday and ended up in Canada. William married a Mary Mahony and I believe stayed in England. If anyone knows anything about this family, I would love to hear from them.
