Query Text: |
Susan Ann Miller, was born (according to family papers, but undocumented) in Sept. of 1826, and her son's death certificate says she was born in Milledgeville, GA. Susan married Reuben James BULLARD, in Helena, ARK, in 1841 (although why a man from Fredericksburg met and married a girl from GA, in ARK, is one of my great unanswered mysteries!). I have their marriage cert., and she married with the permission of her guardian (unnamed, of course). They moved on up the Mississippi River and then the Ohio, where, after a stopoff in KY, they continued on to Wheeling, (W)VA, where they settled permanently. Family lore says that Susan Ann had one sister who married "beneath" the family standards, and that her father sold the family plantation in Baldwin Co, GA, sometime before the onset of the War Between the States. He knew troubles were coming, and so sold the land for a large sum of money, but while traveling up the Ohio River, on his way to Susan and husband Reuben, in Wheeling, he was robbed and murdered by his secretary, who had been traveling with him. Any light anyone can shed on (1) Susan Ann's parentage [father's name might have been Martin, although this is undocumented] (2) her father's murder (3) her sister's name would be greatly appreciated! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
