Query Text: |
I am researching my Gr.Great Grandfather Chockley Hall, Quaker, who married Mary Ferbrache in Feb. 18, 1836 in Preble Co. His brother William was J.P and performed their marriage ceremony. They must have lived in Somers Twp.for several years, because their son Peter was born there. In particular, I'm trying to find out more about the story that Chockley was part of a group of Quakers that rescued an escaped slave from the jail where slave catchers were holding him. Quaker records show him being "disowned" from his Elk Anti-Slavery meeting, possibly for this rescue. I need to know if this story is true. I have no death data for him or his wife, either. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
