Sampson Lee and wife Susan Oswell Lee migrated from Anson County, North Carolina prior to 1851. They settled near Susan Oswell/Oswald parents, Joseph Oswell and Clarissa Dilliard in Gadsden County, Florida. With Sampson and Susan were sons Joseph T. Lee and William Levy Lee. Another son Robert A. Lee was born in Gadsden County around 1852. Sampson Lee and son Joseph T. Lee reportedly perished in the Civil War leaving behind Susan, William Levy, and young Robert A. Lee. Susan Lee moved to nearby Faceville, (Bainbridge) Georgia and can be found on the 1880 Decautr County, Georgia census with her sons, an a Rebecca Boykins. William Levy Lee married Josephine Pickett of Gadsden County Florida, daughter of Asa and Martha Pickett also of Gadsden County, Florida. Josephine Pickett's siblings married into the Rudd/Gatlin/Shepard/Freeman/Blount families living in Gadsden County, Florida.
