I am looking for information on the Baird Family of Avery/ Mitchell Co NC. Here is the info I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1900 Michell Co Census Cranberry NC Roby Baird abt 1866 Ellen Eliza James David Martha Julie Mary 1910 Mitchell Co Census Cranberry NC Robby Beard Ellen James 1920 Avery Co Census Cranberry Robie Beard abt 1859 Mary Martha May 1930 Avery Co Census Cranberry NC Roby Beard living in the house of Eliza Adkins his oldest daughter. Wife Ellen Lothery though there are various spellings for the last name was the daughter of William James Lothery and Caroline Mise. Death certificate statesEllen Baird June 28, 1878-Auug 25, 1928 buried on Little Elk husband Roby Baird. I also have death certificates for 3 of his children David Byard April 1891-April 10, 1917 Father Roby Byard Jim (James) Feb 5, 1894 estimated-Dec. 10, 1971 Roby Baird and Ellen Lathery Avery Co Court House Records Eliza Beard Adkins April 11, 1886 Oct. 20, 1952 Have both death and birth certificates. Eliza Beard married Rufus Milton Adkins (born 1885) though at times he went by Staples. Can not find his death certificate. Family oral history states that he was killed working in the Mortimer Cotton Mill. They are both buried in a private cemetery on Greer Rd. Least We Forget book on Avery Co Cemeteries and I have been there. They have several birth and death certificates for Milton and Eliza's children there.
