I am researching the Summers family in South Africa.According to my information the Summers progenitors in South Africa came late (around the time of the gold rush in South Afica).My grandfather John Francois Summers, his brother Peter Summers and sister Kitty Summers were children at the time when my great grandfather worked at a goldmine in either the Braamfontein or Booysens area.According to the information given by relatives my great grandmother was awarded the freedom of the city of either Braamfontein or Booysens when she turned 100 years of age at around 1956, she was married 3 times and the last surname was Williams.
