Seeking information on Pat or Patrick Joseph Hackett, born ca 1840 Tipperary, Ireland according to family information. Also seeking information on ancestors, or relatives. He immigrated to US about 1856. Came to Memphis, Tn as civilian wagonmaster with US Quartermaster General Office ca 1865. Joined Memphis Police when formed in 1870 and became captain about 1880. May have been the Pat Hackett who in 1860 lived in Strasburg, Lancaster County Pa, with James Hackett b. ca 1832 and John Hackett b. ca 1834. Related to Mahoney and/or Horan family. Had relatives in St Louis in 1890's. Married 1866, Mary Ellen Lane, a widow w/ two daughters. Children's names were Richard b. 1867, James J. b. 1869, Mary Ellen b. 1872, and Josephine Celestine b. 1874. Mary Ellen died of yellow fever; Patrick survived.
