Wise Hill was born between 1710/1725 and died between 1794/1800. Possibly born in Northampton County, Va. as he was on a list of tithables 1730 - 1742. One source says he was born in Creektown, Carteret County, N. C. I have been unable to find Creektown on any old maps. He died in Carteret County and was there as early as Sep 3 1745 when he appeared in the County Court to make oath that there were 6 white persons in his family. He appeared in a muster return of the Carteret militia, with son John, in 1754. Speculation is that he was related to the Wise family of the eastern shore. Also, speculation is that his wife could possibly have been named Hamilton as their daughter was named Hannah Hamilton Hill. Known children were Peter Hill I, Henry Hill, John Hill, and Hannah Hamilton Hill Styron (she married Samuel Styron). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
