I am looking for information about Jesse Alvard and/or his adopted father David Alvard. I thought our family was primarily from the Wisconson area but have recently found them in Harlan Township, Fayette County, Iowa in the 1870 census. Jesse was adopted sometime in the mid to late 1860's and was originally from Scotland. From what I've been told the original family name was Blakeslee (or Blakesly).
