Family hails from Morven, NC. Maternal line decends direcctly from Native American Woman, proved through DNA test. Our Maternal line belong to Native American Haplogroup (A) As well as Genealogical Research often mislabled as Mulatto/Negro/Colored. If you are related to Kila Ashe/1826,Daughter Malinda Bennett/1856,Daugher Darnetta Bennett who married to become Darnetta Owens mother of Henry Owens and Ira Owens. Darnetta's sister was Rena Kila Bennette who went on to marry Allen Leak, They were parents of Frankie Louise Leak who later married and became Frankie Pegues, her husband was La Salle Pegues. Both my mother's parents. If you are related to any of the above mentioned please contact me! I have clarified our ancestor was Native American. We descend from several tribes as family oral history stated and have done extensive research. Would like to find all family members from this line. I would like to thank family members from providing photos of our Native American Ancestors. Proud of our Heritage as First Nation Peoples. Now All of the lies and misinformation about our people can be corrected.Although there is no definitive proof that our ancesors were all held in bondage or slavery, many Native American Women, children and men were on plantations as Slaves or Indentured servants or because of no other choice. They were forced to give up their culture, ways and Identity often being mis-labeled as Mulattos, Colored or Black. There were many forgotten smaller tribes that existed that were simply wiped out on paper and forced to assmilate or forget their Native Ancestry. I seek to correct this. (THE ANCESTOR IN THIS PHOTO IS DARNETTA BENETT OWENS, MY GREATGRANDMOTHER'S SISTER. BORN LATE 1800'S) SHE IS THE DIRECT DESCENDANT OF SEVERAL FULL BLOOD NATIVE LINES. SHE AND HER SIBLINGS WERE SOME OF THE LAST FULL BLOOD NATIVE PEOPLE LEFT IN THE AREA OF ANSON COUNTY.
