BURNETT : JOHNSON : JOHNSTON
Query Text: |
John Burnett was born near Aberdeen,Scotland in 1610. In 1635 he traveled to Virginia on The Abraham. It is believed that he conducted commerce between Scotland and England at the request of King Charles after receiving a commission to trade in 1638. 23 May 1637 there were 150 acres patented to John Burnett in upper county of New Norfolk,Virginia. He is believed to have grown and shipped tobacco. He married Lucretia Johnson/Johnston in 1657 and then lived on Piscataway Creek in Old South Farnham Parish. I want to see if I can locate that land that I suppose now is part of Suffolk-and to see if he lived there or if it was just a commercial site. My family and I are on a quest to visit the exact (as exact as we can get)spots where our earliest immigrant ancestors lived, worked and were buried. We want to plan a tour and visit the sites. If you have any clues-I would love to have them. Thank you for your time.
