I am searching for any information about my grandfather, Luther Morgan. He was born on August 6, 1904 in Marion (McDowell County) NC. I just found this information on his death cert. There were no parents listed on this cert. We believe that his father and mother may have been John and Matilda. I have found a John T. Morgan and Matilda McKnight married July 4, 1858 in Ashe County NC, but the year does not quite seem right for the birth of the two son’s Thomas and Luther. I have been told that his father worked in the railroad station and was killed in the early 1900’s, may have been killed in the roundhouse by a train. He had a brother named Thomas was born in 1894, date and place unknown possibly in NC. Their mother may have remarried a man named Albert S. Frick. I have found a marriage record of Matilda Morgan and Albert S. Frick on June 19, 1907 in Leavenworth County, Kansas. This would have been with Luther was 3 years old. Their mother may have put them into an orphanage in NC, after their father was killed, have been told that the boys ran away from the orphanage. Do not have the name of the orphanage or the place. Luther married Lue Ellen Brisco (b-12-30-1897) in Angleton Texas on December 22, 1920. Edward (my father), b- 3 Oct 1923 Leola Ruth b- 11 Nov 1925 Mary Ethel, b- 9 Jan 1928 Lue Ellen, b-4 Oct 1929 Della b- 2 Sept 1931 Luther died Oct 16, 1941 in Galveston Texas and is buried in the Old Hitchcock Cemetery in Hitchcock TX..
