My Irish ancestors came out of Virginia,ohio, and Indiana.migrated to California during gold rush. about 1850s. Ggrandfathers name was Thomas Ward,dob 1836. He had sistr named Lottie Ward Howland,that we know of. Thomas was in the Civil War.Thomas Ward was supposed to have fought during the Indian Wars of the Dakotas circa late 1860s as Assistant Quarter-master, can not find any records of this.Trying to make connection somewhere.
