I am trying to find out where in Canada my ancestors lived before they homesteaded in Maryville Township, Rolette county, North Dakota. Their names were Guillaume and Alphonsine Berube, and Louis and Catherine Mongeon. Guillaume first filed citizenship papers in 1886, and filed second papers in 1890. He was given a land patent in 1895. I've found a Guillaume and Alphonsine Berube in the 1881 census in Quebec, but I'm not sure the people are the same ones. Louis also filed first papers for citizenship in 1886 and second ones in 1890. He bought his land 1891. I have found a Louis and Catherine Mongeon in the 1881 census in Manitoba, and I'm reasonably sure they are my ancestors, but I'm wondering where in Canada their parents lived. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
