I am looking for info on John Thomas Knight, born 1796 in Lancaster, SC. Names of his parents and any siblings unknown. Name of first wife unknown, but he had 3 sons by that marriage - William, Jonathan and Jesse Knight. He later married Rebecca Hancock Robertson (widow of Joe Robertson) and they had 4 sons - Calvin and Thomas A. born in SC, Richard and Asa born in Harris County, GA. Then 2 daughters, Rebecca (married John Hays) and Mary Ann (married Willis Garner) were born in Tallapoosa County, AL. He moved to Ouachita County, AR in 1858 and was known to live there until 1872. Then he was living in Jasper, TX until his death Dec. 25, 1885. He is buried near Newton, TX in Wilson Chapel Cemetery. He was a farmer and timber buyer and helped organize the Wallace Chapel Methodist Church near Newton in 1883. He was known as "Uncle Tommie" Knight. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
